JUNE 2023
I am concluding pre-production plans for my movie titled "FOR THE CITY". It's been two years in the making, and we had to focus on composing the original soundtracks that will be used in this movie which is a blend of New Jack City and Step Up. My friend and brother, Patrick Edwards has been working round the clock to ensure that the music and soundtracks are befitting for the genre, while keeping them contemporary. Patrick Edwards has been a long-time collaborator of mine, and has been saddled with composing and writing songs behind the scenes for a couple of my projects including THE DEADWOOD, LOOP, TUNNEL, COAT OF HARM, COMMON MAN, THE MOTLEY MOPSTERS, PREUBA, KPIANS-THE FEAST OF SOULS, IDAHOSA TRAILS, and most recently, A TUNE AWAY.

TEACHING ENGAGEMENT
I AM RETURNING AS A LECTURER AT THE MULTICHOICE TALENT FACTORY BECAUSE I LOVE TO SHARE KNOWLEDGE.
I am absolutely committed to equipping the next generation!
I am absolutely committed to equipping the next generation!
Sequel to a highly-rated outing in previous years, I returned as a guest lecturer to teach "LIGHTING DESIGN" in May 2023, at the Multichoice Talent Factory, Lagos - Nigeria. Anyone who knows me knows how passionate I am about "LIGHT-BENDING" as I call it. My emphasis will be on the use of light, color, framing, and composition to tell emotional stories, and my "choice tools" were basic light emitters - regular household incandescent bulbs, table lamps, light from mobile phones, and more.
The goal was to get the students to think outside the box, liberate themselves from restrictive preconceived notions about lighting, and more important - dare to experiment! The feedback from the students who attended my sessions last year was simply amazing! The ones from this year are even more gratifying. |
I recently completed a practical filmmaking workshop in Sittingbourne for kids and teenagers between the ages of 7 and 19. We started with a few days of theory before delving into practical learning. The training commenced on the 5th of April and ended on April 16th, with a premiere of the two movies made during the workshop. I will be following up the Sittingbourne "FILM RESOLVE" with similar workshops in Luton, Leeds, Gillingham, Milton Keynes, Worcester, and Birmingham. Reach out if you are interested in partnering with me to host Film Resolve in your city!

SHAPING THE FUTURE THROUGH FOOTBALL
Through my enterprise (RTF-Film Resolve), I am officially supporting "Long Lane JFC" in a strategic partnership that will see us contribute to the club's growth through intentional curating/documentation, brand promotion, and brand visibility implementation across a broad range of platforms and formats. It's my way of championing innovative interventions targeted at our beloved world's future custodians, as a community activist and change agent.
After going unbeaten for 25 games, Long Lane Raiders JFC won the Shield Cup! |

On April 18th, 2023, I was at the University of Worcester, where I shared my research-based knowledge on "Lighting the black race". A bonus workshop highlighted the best practices in single-camera workflow for filming drama.

Film Resolve is an annual filmmaking workshop that has been hosted for the past seven years in Lagos - Nigeria, and Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. This is the inaugural U.K. edition, leading to the establishment of a film academy with a keen focus on using film as a tool for social change. Film Resolve is powered by Mighty Jot Studios and the Realtime International Film Festival (RTF).
A special session was facilitated made by my son, David Ohikhuare, who made his first film titled "Dear John" when he was just nine years old. Watch the film below: |
